NWR accommodation in the Zambezi Region is more limited than in Etosha or Sossusvlei, reflecting the region’s less-visited status and the partial development of its park infrastructure.
Susuwe Island Lodge (Bwabwata National Park)
The principal NWR accommodation in the Zambezi Region; positioned in the Bwabwata Kwando area. Chalets are positioned on the Kwando River; the wildlife on the river bank is accessible from the lodge’s own boats and from guided vehicle drives.
Facilities: Chalets with en-suite bathrooms; restaurant; boat launch. Booking: Through nwr.com.na.
Camping Options
NWR campsites in the Zambezi Region are at Susuwe (Bwabwata) and at designated points in Mudumu and Nkasa Rupara. Facilities are minimal (ablutions; fire rings); the wildlife in the surrounding park areas is the draw.
Self-catering campers should provision comprehensively in Katima Mulilo or Rundu before reaching the parks; no supplies are available at the campsites.
Booking
All NWR Zambezi Region accommodation and camping through nwr.com.na. The Zambezi Region parks do not face the same demand pressure as Etosha or Sossusvlei; bookings are generally available at shorter notice, though peak season (July to October) warrants advance booking.
