Aus is situated 120 kilometers east of Lüderitz. It is a town tucked into desert hills, known for its wild horses. No one is exactly sure where these wild horses are originally from, but it is believed that they were brought to Namibia by the German Schutztruppe.
To see these animals, the Garub waterhole, about 20 kilometers west of Aus, is an excellent place to go. An observation post has even been erected nearby. Watching these elegant animals in the wild of Namibia is a fascinating experience.
