NWR Camps
NWR manages campsites at several locations in the Zambezi Region parks. Facilities are basic (ablutions; fire rings); the primary advantage is proximity to the wildlife areas and low cost.
Susuwe Island Lodge (Bwabwata, NWR): A step above standard NWR camps; chalets on the Kwando River. Book through nwr.com.na.
Nkasa Rupara: Limited NWR camping at the park.
Private River Lodges
Nambwa Tented Lodge (Bwabwata Kwando Core Area): A well-regarded mid-to-upper mid-range lodge on the Kwando floodplain; guided boat and vehicle activities; elephant and hippo frequently at the waterhole.
Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge (Nkasa Rupara area): Positioned on the Linyanti for the red lechwe floodplain; boat and vehicle activities; birding focus.
Kwando Lagoon Camp and Lebala Camp (Botswana border area): Mid-range lodges with excellent guiding; Kwando system wildlife.
Impalila Island Lodge (eastern Zambezi Region): Remote; accessible only by boat; the Chobe-Zambezi-Linyanti junction; exceptional wildlife.
Katima Mulilo (Base Town)
Several mid-range guesthouses and the Zambezi Lodge in Katima Mulilo provide a base for self-drive visitors. No high-end accommodation; primarily used as a logistics base rather than a wildlife destination in itself.
