Dune Buggies in Swakopmund

Dune buggy tours are a seated, guided alternative to quad biking that suit visitors who want the dune experience without the active riding demands of a quad bike. Passengers ride in open, purpose-built off-road vehicles driven by an experienced guide who navigates the dune system, the salt flats, and the dune corridors of the central Namib.

The Experience

The guide drives; passengers experience. This makes the dune buggy appropriate for a wider age range than quad biking (including younger children and older visitors) and for those who prefer observation over active participation. The vehicles cover similar terrain to the quad bike routes: dune crests with ocean and dune-sea views, salt flat sections, and the transition zone between the coastal plain and the active dune field.

Dauer: 1 to 2 hours for standard tours; longer options available. Group size: Typically four to six passengers per vehicle. What to bring: Sunglasses and a light layer for wind; the open vehicles move at speed and create their own wind chill even on warm days.
