The catamaran cruise is the most comfortable way to see the full Walvis Bay lagoon ecosystem in a single outing. Over 2.5 hours, the boat covers the seal colony at the harbour mouth, the flamingo feeding areas in the inner lagoon, the pelican concentration areas, and the open bay where bottlenose dolphin frequently accompany the boat.
What Is Included
Wildlife: Cape fur seal colony (close approach; seals often swim alongside the boat); flamingo (visible across the lagoon; approached to viewing distance); Cape pelican; cormorants; lagoon wading birds.
Oysters: Walvis Bay produces some of the world’s most highly regarded oysters from farms in the Benguela-cooled lagoon. Fresh oysters are served on board with lemon and hot sauce. For visitors who have never eaten a raw oyster, this is a gentle introduction; the boat guide typically provides instruction.
Sparkling wine: Included in the standard tour; soft drinks and other beverages also available.
Dolphin: Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) frequently approach the catamaran in the open bay sections; encounters are not guaranteed but occur on the majority of trips. Humpback whale are sometimes encountered in season (May to November).
