Southern Section (Ugab Gate to Terrace Bay)
NWR conservation fee: Per person per day; payable at the Ugab River gate on entry. Current rates at nwr.com.na.
Vehicle fee: Per vehicle per day.
Camping at Torra Bay or Terrace Bay: Separate accommodation fee payable at the camp; book through nwr.com.na.
Cape Cross Seal Reserve: Separate NWR entry fee; payable at the Cape Cross gate. Cape Cross is not part of the Skeleton Coast National Park but is NWR-managed.
Northern Wilderness Section
Special permit: Required for all entry to the northern wilderness. Permits are issued only to licensed operators who manage the fly-in camps. Individual visitors cannot obtain permits independently; the permit system exists specifically to restrict access and protect the wilderness character.
What is included in the lodge rate: Licensed operators include all permit fees in their lodge pricing. There are no additional NWR fees payable by guests staying at northern wilderness camps.
Payment
Cash (Namibian dollars) and card at Ugab gate. Connectivity is variable at the gate; carry Namibian dollars. The nearest ATM is in Henties Bay (60km south of the gate) or Swakopmund (210km south).
