The Sorris Sorris Hike

Arrive in the afternoon and get settled at the comfortable Madisa Camp, where your hiking adventure begins. Before dinner, join a detailed briefing to learn more about the route, terrain, and what to expect on the trail. Drinking water will be provided throughout the hike, and a selection of beers, ciders, wines, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. All vehicles will be securely parked at a designated area within Madisa Camp for the duration of the trek. Enjoy a relaxed evening around camp as you get ready for the journey ahead.

Your hiking journey begins with a 20 km trek deep into the dramatic landscapes of Damaraland. Traverse dry riverbeds, navigate ancient rock formations, and absorb the raw beauty of the terrain. Midway, enjoy a well-deserved brunch surrounded by silence and vastness. As evening falls, settle into a remote wild camp where comfort meets wilderness — complete with cozy tents, hot showers, and a hearty meal beneath the stars. To end the day, a relaxing foot soak awaits, easing the miles from your muscles.

Rise with the desert sun and continue another 20 km journey through untamed terrain marked by sculpted rocks, sandy tracks, and seasonal riverbeds. The trail winds through breathtaking scenery, offering a deep connection with the land. Take a break for brunch at a picturesque rest stop, where the stillness of nature recharges you. As dusk settles, arrive at your next wild camp, a secluded haven with hot showers, a delicious dinner, and the comfort of tents under an open sky. 

After a nourishing breakfast, the trail leads along the Ugab River, tracing the timeworn paths of desert-adapted elephants through stunning desert landscapes. A scenic brunch break offers a chance to relax and refuel before continuing toward the Sorris Sorris / Anixab region. By late afternoon, hikers arrive at a wild camp tucked between ancient granite koppies. Here, a fully serviced campsite awaits, complete with hot showers, toilets, and a welcoming dining area. As the sun sets, enjoy a satisfying dinner and a peaceful evening beneath the vast Namibian night sky.

The last stretch of the journey winds through the scenic Ugab River valley, with ever-changing views and possible sightings of desert wildlife along the way.
