Skeleton Coast Accommodation Guide

Accommodation on the Skeleton Coast is minimal by the standard of any other Namibia region. The southern self-drive section has two NWR camps (one seasonal); the northern wilderness has two or three fly-in lodges with very limited capacity.

Southern Section

Torra Bay NWR Camp: Open December to January only. Camping; communal ablutions. Books out early with regular fishing visitors; book through nwr.com.na.

Terrace Bay NWR Resort: Year-round. Chalets (some with sea views); restaurant; bar; fuel. The most remote NWR accommodation in Namibia. Book through nwr.com.na.

Swakopmund (base for day trips): Most visitors to the southern Skeleton Coast base in Swakopmund. See the Swakopmund accommodation guide.

Northern Wilderness

Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp (Wilderness Safaris): 8 tents in the Hoanib River corridor. Fly-in access. All-inclusive. Minimum 3 nights.

Skeleton Coast Camp (Wilderness Safaris): Further north toward the Kunene River; a different wilderness character from Hoanib. Fly-in access.

Both lodges can be combined in a single fly-in circuit. See wilderness lodges.
