Pink Lake

About 10 kilometers from Walvis Bay is one very original site that you have to visit while on the coast. It is called the Pink Lake and you may have never seen anything like this. The pink color of the lake is due to the high salt concentration in the water, which supports the growth of salt-tolerant algae that interact with a specific bacteria.

All in all, it is a beautiful and unique site on the Namibian coast. It is worth the detour while you are on a half-day trip to Sandwich Harbour or if you are visiting Walvis Bay or Swakopmund.
