Both require 280km of driving from Swakopmund; both sit at the end of the only road through the park; and both deliver a specific experience of coastal remoteness that is difficult to find elsewhere in Namibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Torra Bay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Open:<\/strong> December to January only. <strong>Unterkunft:<\/strong> Camping pitches; communal ablutions (toilets and showers); braai facilities. <strong>What it offers:<\/strong> Beach fishing; the specific Skeleton Coast atmosphere in the height of summer; the sense of being at an outpost. <strong>Booking:<\/strong> Through NWR at nwr.com.na. The December to January period is popular with South African fishing families; book well in advance for the peak Christmas and New Year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Terrace Bay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Open:<\/strong> Year-round. <strong>Unterkunft:<\/strong> A-frame chalets; some with sea views; a restaurant serving meals daily; a bar; a fuel pump. <strong>What it offers:<\/strong> The furthest accessible self-drive point on the Skeleton Coast; surf fishing; coastal walks; the beginning of the wilderness that extends northward without road access. <strong>Booking:<\/strong> Through NWR at nwr.com.na. Less competitive than Torra Bay for most of the year; the best fishing periods (April to August) see higher demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Praktische Notizen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Both camps require the Ugab gate entry fee. Fuel is available at Terrace Bay but the supply is not guaranteed; fill completely at Henties Bay before proceeding north.
