The tracks shown on standard Google Maps are not reliable for Kaokoland; use specialist off-road mapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Emergency Protocol<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A Garmin inReach or SPOT satellite communicator allows two-way messaging from anywhere in Kaokoland. Register the device; test it before departure; carry spare batteries.
