This is the self-drive access route for the southern Skeleton Coast; no permit is needed for the section between Swakopmund and Terrace Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Route North<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Swakopmund \u2192 C34 north \u2192 Cape Cross (150km) \u2192 Torra Bay (240km) \u2192 Terrace Bay (280km)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road is tar throughout from Swakopmund to the Ugab River Skeleton Coast Park gate; gravel from the gate to Terrace Bay. 2WD accessible throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Pass Through<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Henties Bay (70km):<\/strong> Small fishing town; fuel; last reliable services before Cape Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cape Cross Seal Reserve (150km):<\/strong> See the <a href=\"https:\/\/mat-travel.com\/de\/namibia\/swakopmund-stadt\/das-kreuzkap\/\">Cape Cross guide<\/a>. The seal reserve is a natural stop; most day trips from Swakopmund turn around here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ugab River Gate:<\/strong> The northern boundary of the accessible Skeleton Coast National Park. NWR entry fee payable here for continuation to Torra Bay and Terrace Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Torra Bay (240km):<\/strong> A seasonal NWR fishing camp (open December to January only); campsite when open. In other months, the camp is closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terrace Bay (280km):<\/strong> An NWR fishing resort open year-round; basic accommodation; the northernmost point accessible to self-drive visitors.
